Botulinum
Bulinum toxin acts on the cause that determines the appearance of a wrinkle, that is, the muscle’s repeated contraction.
It is a myorelaxant medicine that has a decontracting effect on the muscles which disaccustoms the patient from using the muscle, resulting in the disappearance of the wrinkle itself.
The Botulinum Toxin has a preventive action.
It can treat:
- Unaesthetic vertical wrinkles between the eyebrows (glabellar frown lines)
- Wrinkles around the eyes, also known as “crow’s feet”
- Horizontal wrinkles on the forehead
A brow lift can also be performed using hyaluronic acid and Botulinum toxin.
Although Botulinum toxin has been used in the medical field to treat certain diseases for many years, only later has its use in the aesthetic field been approved by the FDA.
Up until today some patients fear facial aesthetic treatments due to years of misinformation on behalf of the media.
People seeking attention have given interviews with incorrect information.
To tackle this misinformation an association called AITEB (Italian Association of Aesthetic Botox Therapy) was founded.
